Yes, I know I’ve been MIA. But I am here to explain to you why, and what all has been going on behind the scenes!
The preorder campaign is almost over, which may be a sigh of relief in some ways, but will also mark the beginning of the true “crunch time”.
I really think that I have done the best that I could while working a full time job, still volunteering as much as possible with my church, and working with local teens. I even took on new roles (say hello to a new Tech Lead at Son Rise)! Life has been eventful on a personal level as well with illnesses, and emergencies arising, as they do…
True, fundraising didn’t go quite as well as I’d hoped, but I didn’t expect this to be all rainbows and butterflies. When you decide to self publish a book, you can plan for it to be a lot of work, hard work. It is also bound to be rather stressful at times, as well as exciting.
I knew I would have to pay a bit out of my own pocket, that’s just the name of the game, so there goes my tax refund and all my savings…
(luckily that’s what it was already set aside, and saved for…)
If you are still interested in supporting this project you can go to the fundraising page to donate, which will remain active!
4 Publishers?! Really!?
So when I decided to self publish, I slacked off in the publisher research department… Then came the preorder campaign, and messages from a few publishers who were interested in the book… How unexpected…
I have started looking into the different types of publishing companies, and mainly into the companies who are interested in my book. I am surprised to say that I am actually considering them.
I like the idea of the Hybrid publishers, because they would take a lot off my plate, but they would also leave me in control and with full ownership of all of my work. I have to say its a tempting offer…
What does that mean for the release date?
All of this research, and talking back and forth, has brought me to the realization that I will probably be pushing back the release date.
If I do sign with a publisher, their mass printing process will take longer than my small self-published printing would have. I will also basically be starting again from square one, going through the whole game plan with them. So I’m not sure how long it would take, but it would definitely push back the release date considerably.
I think that if I choose to do this, it will be much better in the long run! I will post updates and especially the official release date here, once I know exactly when it will be.
But what about my preorder?
HOWEVER!!!! I will do everything in my power to fulfill the preorders in the time that I had set. I will get them to all of you as quickly as I can, along with all of your extras and goodies!
What now?
For now you can keep an eye out for the art reveals, and some character introductions, as well as updates and announcements about what publisher I choose to go with, If I choose to go with one… official release date information, and maybe even more sneak peeks!
Thank you guys for hanging in there with me, and joining me on this publishing adventure! It’s only just beginning!
