What’s up guys! I’m back! Chillin at the Farmacy today with my bestie Achaia, and I’m about to get all the dirt! What is it like to think you’re a human and find out you’re not? What’s it like to be best friends with yours truly? Does she want to have Noland’s babies? We’re about to find out! 🤪
Olivier: “Welcome back! I’m here today with Achaia Cohen, infamous hybrid and abomination. Achaia, thank you for joining me.”
Achaia: *chokes on her Wake up Call float* (I think coffee ice cream came out her nose a little 🤣) “Olly, you know how I feel about the ‘A word’.”
Olivier: “Is that not what the “A” in “BA” stands for?”
Achaia: *back handed my bicep but hurt herself more than me 😜*
Olivier: “I expect you to behave yourself for the people.”
Achaia: “It’s a recording on your phone Olly, they can’t see me.”
Olivier: “It’s the principal…”
Achaia: “Whatever. What did you want to talk about?”
Olivier: “I guess I’ve never really asked you before, what was it like going from thinking you were just a normal human, to all of this?”
Achaia: *pensively sipped her float for a hot minute* “It feels like a whole other lifetime, honestly. And in the beginning everything happened so fast I didn’t really get a lot of processing time. I just kind of had to accept things and keep running forward. But now you mention it, it was pretty jarring. I think to some extent I still have whip lash.”
Olivier: “In what ways?”
Achaia: “I mean some mornings I still wake up and am like ‘oh crap! I’m late for school!’ Then I’m like, I don’t do that anymore… and it hits me all over again just how much things have changed.”
Olivier: “Right. I mean I feel like we’ve been best friends forever, but it hasn’t even been a year since we met! What the frick, time is weird.”
Achaia: “For real! Like really? There was a time I didn’t know you? What a sucky life that was!”
Olivier: *I admit I blushed….* “Awe, thanks Frenchy!” *I winked at her to cover the fact that I was actually really touched 😂- I’m working on being more comfortable with my emotions, but it’s a work in progress.* “It couldn’t have helped that like one of the first things after finding out about all this, was that fiasco with Joash and the council.”
Achaia: *grunted in disdain- that’s right, I know cool words!* “Yeah talk about the king of worst first impressions. And second. And third…”
Olivier: “Yeah the whole time I was sitting there like, ‘ya know douche-wad, you’re making Luc look appealing right now in comparison. Go ahead, chase her into his frigid embrace!'”
Achaia: *snorted* “Luc is significantly more charming, I’ll give him that. But the embrace?” *cocked her eyebrow at me for my word choices* “Waaaaaay too frigid.”
Olivier: “Speaking of, as far as our generation goes, you’ve spent more time with the big bad than anyone. I understand if you don’t want to talk about it. But can you tell us more about what he is really like?”
Achaia: *Took a huge sigh then a long sip of her float- she’s not subtle when she’s biding her time* “He’s complicated. And I feel like I have to be very careful with how I word things about him, because taken out of context, this could go very poorly with council members…”
Olivier: “Understood, take your time.”
Achaia: *thoughtfully* “Is Luc a villain? Yes. One hundred percent. But he wasn’t always, and I think maybe I got glimpses of who he was before. And I’ve wondered how much of that guy still exists. It also scared me when we were together how much I can actually relate to him. I think the main thing that really separates us is how we choose to act and respond to our experiences and emotions. He would kill me for saying this, not that he hasn’t tried to before I said this- but, I think he is actually super fragile emotionally, to a diabolical extent. He’s really vulnerable, and that’s why he puts up such a strong front. I think he wanted so badly for me to see him, and agree with him and to validate him. And a part of me wanted to, to an extent, but then his nature is so broken. I just couldn’t. He isn’t right. He definitely has reasons, some valid, for being who he is. But they don’t make him right. If any of that made any sense…” *Achaia rolled her eyes at herself*
Olivier: “So am I right in saying you have a degree of sympathy for Luc?” *This question scared me to ask*
Achaia: “More like I have sympathy for the man he could have been if he’d made different choices. It was almost like looking in a mirror and seeing who I could easily become if I made all the wrong choices. If I bottled up all my rage, and stewed over how the council treated me, instead of choosing not to care what they think and going about my life anyway- I don’t think I’d end up so different from Luc. I think it’s dangerous to think we are so different. I think we need to remember that, a few different choices, and that’s what we could also become. I think that’s what holy rollers like Joash forget. They think they are so different. But if he was, he wouldn’t be fallen, too.”
Olivier: “Speaking of Luc, your time with him, and similarities, tell us a little more about this Jude guy…”
Achaia: “Oh I am more like Luc than Jude is. Jude is a ray of freaking sunshine. I mean obviously we all have our issues. But Jude has a light in him I would hate to see ever get snuffed out. Luc’s tried several times before, but Jude has shown resilience. He really helped to keep me grounded in there. He was my tether to hope.”
Olivier: *not really liking how this sounds for my boy Noland…* “That sounds, intimate.” *I gave her a look here- not sure what all it said, but enough to where she started shaking her head adamantly*
Achaia: “Not like that kind of intimate. I think on that very human level where we really just need to not feel alone in the dark. I don’t like Jude that way. I feel about Jude pretty similarly to the way I feel about you, Olly.”
Olivier: *feeling all of a sudden threatened and jealous* “You better not.”
Achaia: *laughed at me* “Don’t worry, you’ll always be my number one bestie.”
Olivier: “I’m sure Noland will be as relieved as I am.”
Achaia: *cocked her eyebrow at me* “Nice, subtle segue.”
Olivier: “So you may or may not know that I actually already interviewed him. And in said interview, you may have come up.”
Achaia: *preemptively blushed- it was super satisfying 😜* “In what capacity?”
Olivier: “The: Do you want to have his babies? Capacity.”
Achaia: *open mouth gawked at me and her face when like straight up crimson! 🤣* “What?!”
Olivier: “You know, just the typical, where do you see your relationship going? Inquiring minds need to know.”
Achaia: “No they don’t.”
Olivier: “But I do!”
Achaia: “What did Noland say?”
Olivier: “You know he wouldn’t say anything- he left that up to you. Between the two of you, your more of the talker…”
Achaia: *scowled at me as only she can.*
Olivier: “Oh come on! I’m just starting these interviews! I have to earn a reputation for getting the juicy stuff! Help a brother out!” *I never said I was above begging…*
Achaia: *relaxed her face, but it was still pretty pink* “I can’t promise I’ll answer the way you want. But I give you permission to ask me about Noland.”
Olivier: *straight up stoked, I fist pumped the air in celebration* “Okay, so do you want to have his babies?”
Achaia: “If you’re going to interview people you have to ask more professional questions.”
Olivier: “Do you desire to bear Noland’s prodgeny?”
Achaia: *looked like she wanted to roll her eyes at me, but she chuckled instead* “That’s not what I meant Olly. It’s the content of the question, not the wording that’s the problem.”
Olivier: *sighing in defeat* “Will you tell me if I stop the recording?”
Achaia: *scoffed at my relentlessness* “Ask another question.”
Olivier: “Fine, how are things going with you and Noland?”
Achaia: *smilingly* “I think things are going pretty well. We are still getting to know each other better, every day. Training has been going well, I think we are really building trust. Neither one of us was super great with communication when we first met, so we are working on that, and I think we are getting better. So overall, I’m feeling pretty good about where we are now, considering where we started.”
Olivier: “To be fair I think you guys started off strong, then tanked, and are rebounding.”
Achaia: *dropped her smile* “Don’t make me regret doing this interview Olly.”
Olivier: *throwing up my hands in surrender* “Okay, okay. So, do you want to have his babies?”
Achaia: *groaned so loud the old people a table over stopped their conversation to stare at us- but Achaia’s back was to them so she didn’t notice* “At least twelve of them.” *this was just dripping with pure unadulterated sarcasm*
Olivier: “Well there you have it folks! Achaia Cohen wants to bear Noland Amsel no less than a dozen hearty offspring! Achaia, thank you so much for joining me today, it’s been a real pleasure.”
Achaia: “When we spar later, I’m going to kill you.”
Olivier: *genuinely terrified* “If there’s no interview next month, just know faithful listeners that I appreciate each and every one of you more than you know, too much to ever forsake these interviews. So if I’m a no show, it is because Achaia killed me- and I expect you all to seek justice on my behalf. Okay? Okay.”
Achaia: *rolled her eyes at me* “Trust me, y’all don’t want a piece of this.”
Olivier: “Achaia, I must ask that you not threaten my audience.”
Achaia: “Well then don’t throw them into death’s path by sicking them on me! I am the Angel of Death, you know.”
Olivier: “Semantics. Don’t limit yourself, love. Don’t be like Luc! Be better than Luc! Make good choices!”
Achaia: “You know I really hate when you use my own words against me…”
Olivier: “That’s just a byproduct of my journalistic prowess.” *I winked at her as I took a long draw from my Rocket milkshake (espresso shot whipped into coffee ice cream because I plan on beating Achaia in that sparring session later and I need FUEL! Highly recommend if you’re ever at the Farmacy!)*
Olivier and Achaia are characters featured in The Kingdom Come Series by Brandy Ange. You can join them on their journey’s starting in book one, Transgression which is available from all major book retailers.
